Credit as Commodity

Go on. Wear your debt! Better yet... cut up your gold card and have it made into one last extravagant purchase.

Dressed in gold and platinum and decorated with shimmering gem-like holograms, credit cards make promises to the holder of power, wealth, luxury, status, exclusivity, privilege, membership and rewards. Created in 2007, the Credit as Commodity series foresaw the US debt crisis that began a year later. This body of work investigates the credit card as it relates to jewellery both in its material references and in the qualities it imbues on it's holder.
